19 Spring Things We're Looking Forward To
Shiny lippies, fresh recipes, earscapes, landscapes and leading lady television
Dear friends,
Spring has sprung, birds are chirping, and the retrogrades are only mildly kicking our you-know-whats. In sum: life is good despite all the things we don’t need to spell out here. We’re managing our spring fever by sharing what we’re most excited about this season. Before we dive in, sending big love for the kind notes and comments of support following our last post. More moving was hearing just how much you cherish your own pets. We are the lucky ones.
Xoxo,
Kate & Elizabeth
Elizabeth’s Spring Things
After having a matte lipstick moment, I’m looking forward to getting back to more carefree glosses. Just scooped up Bobbi Brown Slow Jam and Glossier Red (both my lips, but better), and Vacation Chardonnay SPF 30 Lip Oil which I want to wear indoors it’s so juicy.
My streaming queue is happily stacked with leading ladies: Catherine O’Hara and Kathryn Hahn in The Studio (3/26), the return of Michelle Bateau’s Survival of the Thickest (3/27), the conclusion of Handmaid’s Tale (4/6) and Hacks Season 4 (4/10). Somewhere in there I’ll have time to read—any fresh book recs, gang?
The mint garden (yes, garden) we inherited is already flourishing so I’ll be putting it in everything: Herby Pork Larb, Crispy Wonton Chicken Salad, Greens and Peas with Bacon, and of course: cocktails and mocktails. When we are hosting, I keep a water pitcher with lemon slices and mint sprigs in the fridge (eat your heart out Meghan Markle I mean Sussex) and it’s not only lovely and refreshing but makes everyone’s life easier!
I can’t wait to wear woven ballet flats, my Clare V. tees, and get my hands on a Sezane Max shirt. Spring also marks the beginning of dress season which is when I do my best work. I’ve been amassing white dresses on deep clearance and may not make it to Memorial Day before busting one out. As for color ways, red is all the rage right now but I’m more of a green and white gal (word on the street is that The Bettina cut looks fab on just about everyone!).

Oh I cannot WAIT for The Studio. I’m also a huge Hacks fan but am behind a whole season because I can’t figure out my Max streaming bundle. Jean Smart deserves better from a stan like me. Speaking of captivating leading ladies, I’m totally digging Kathy Bates’ turn as Matlock. Also loving the moody, eerie vibe of Paradise.
This spring has me yearning to change up my interiors with something unexpected. Our friend Hayley’s collection is always a good source of inspo, so now I’m trying to figure out where in my limited wall space I can hang this serene scene.
My real spring fling, however, is piercings. A few weeks ago some friends and I dealt with our forty-something malaise by getting a few new holes. I went with two more in my left ear, and now I can’t wait until they heal (6 months, according to Bevel!) so I can start to accessorize with sweet studs and huggies. Elizabeth, I’m already lol’ing thinking about you asking me how my “earscape” is going.
I’ll admit I just recommitted myself to our family’s financial stewardship, which for me means another go at using this app to get more granular on where the dollars actually go and how I can reduce the outflow. I also just made this impulsive purchase because I literally couldn’t resist the thought of nine nourishing oils. I’m sure there’s something there about looking one’s self in the non-cosmetic mirror, which, noted, but I’ll def let you know if this is a product we can’t live without!
HAPPY SPRING, LFQ FAM!
I think we’ll all need an update of the earscape. Which I will be calling a mid-lobe crisis.
